A significant step towards strengthening advanced cancer diagnosis and specialised healthcare services in Madhya Pradesh was marked on 18 October 2026 with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art PET-CT Scan Centre and Tele Command Centre at the New Cancer Hospital Block of M.Y. Hospital, Indore. The facility has been established under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through the collaboration of the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS).
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Mohan Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, as the Chief Guest, along with senior public representatives, government officials, medical professionals and members of the healthcare community. The occasion marked an important development in expanding access to advanced diagnostic and technology-enabled healthcare services.
The newly established PET-CT Centre is expected to provide significant support to cancer patients, particularly those who may otherwise face challenges in accessing advanced diagnostic facilities. PET-CT plays an important role in cancer care by helping doctors assess the stage and spread of the disease, identify tumour activity and evaluate the response to treatment. Its availability at M.Y. Hospital will help make such specialised diagnostic services more accessible to patients.
The inauguration of the Tele Command Centre alongside the PET-CT facility further strengthens the role of technology in healthcare delivery, helping connect patients and healthcare teams with specialised medical expertise.
Representing the Sri Aurobindo Group, Dr. Vinod Bhandari, Founder Chairman; Dr. Manjushree Bhandari, Chancellor; Dr. Mohit Bhandari, Pro-Chancellor; and Dr. Mahak Bhandari, Pro-Chancellor, were present at the occasion.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment towards strengthening cancer care and making advanced healthcare services more accessible to the people of Madhya Pradesh. The occasion also highlighted plans for similar PET-CT facilities in Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa, along with a proposed robotic surgery centre at M.Y. Hospital.
